The transfer belt is the wide belt that runs underneath the image drums in an OKI colour printer. It carries the toner image from the drums onto the paper, and on most models it also holds the waste toner collector. When your printer displays a transfer belt error, it has detected a problem with the belt unit. Code 330 usually clears when you refit the belt. Codes 355 and 356 mean the belt unit has reached the end of its life and needs replacing.

This page covers the OKI transfer belt error codes specifically. For every other OKI code, see our complete guide to OKI error codes.

Do I refit the belt or replace it?

Work through these three steps in order. Between them, they resolve the majority of belt errors.

StepWhat to do
1. RestartTurn the printer off, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
2. Refit the beltFor codes 330 and 135-07, take the belt unit out and fit it again, making sure both lock levers are fully closed.
3. Replace the beltCodes 355 and 356 mean the belt unit has reached the end of its life. Code 135-07 also points to a new belt if it returns after refitting.

If a code keeps coming back after these steps, call us on 033 0303 0123 and one of our OKI trained technicians will talk it through with you.

What does error code 330 mean?

The belt unit isn’t seated correctly. Switch the printer off, open the top cover, take out the image drums, then lift the belt unit out and lower it back into place, checking both lock levers are fully closed. Refit the drums, close the cover and turn the printer on. If the code returns, give us a call. See code 330 on the error-code page.

What does error code 355 mean?

The transfer belt has reached the end of its rated life. Opening and closing the output tray will let you keep printing for a short while, but print quality will deteriorate, so fit a new belt unit as soon as you can. See code 355 on the error-code page.

What does error code 356 mean?

The waste toner collector is full. On most OKI models the collector is built into the belt unit rather than sold as a separate part, so the fix is a new belt unit. As with 355, opening and closing the output tray will give you a little more printing time, but replace the belt as soon as you can to avoid toner spilling inside the printer. See code 356 on the error-code page.

What does error code 135-07 mean?

The belt motor has locked. Take the belt unit out and refit it. If the code returns, replace the belt unit. If a new belt doesn’t clear it, the fault is in the motor or its drive, so call us before ordering anything else. See code 135 on the error-code page.

What does error code 154 mean?

The belt unit’s fuse has blown. Restart the printer, and if the code comes back, call us on 033 0303 0123 before buying a part. A blown belt fuse sometimes means a new belt unit and sometimes points to a fault elsewhere, and we’d rather confirm which before you spend anything.

How do I replace an OKI transfer belt?

The belt sits underneath the image drums, so you will need to take all four drums out first. Keep them out of direct light and don’t touch the green surface.

  1. Switch the printer off and open the top cover.
  2. Lift out each image drum by its handle and set them down on a clean surface, covered, in the order they came out.
  3. Release the two lock levers on the belt unit and lift the belt out by its handles.
  4. Unpack the new belt unit and remove the packing and protective sheet.
  5. Lower the new belt into place and close both lock levers.
  6. Refit the image drums in their original positions until each sits fully down.
  7. Close the top cover and switch the printer on. The printer detects the new belt automatically.
  8. Print a test page to confirm everything is working.

The exact steps vary between models, so check your printer manual if anything looks different. If you’d like a hand, call us and we’ll talk you through it.

Which transfer belt do I need?

Each OKI transfer belt is made for a specific range of models, and a belt from one series won’t fit another. The quickest way to find yours is to enter your printer model into the search box on our OKI printer accessories page, for example C824 or ES8453.

Not sure which one you need? Call us on 033 0303 0123 with your printer model and we’ll confirm the right belt before you order. All our belts are genuine OKI parts, come with our technical support included, and orders over £125 qualify for free UK mainland delivery.
